Building Hope In Ulster County

Ulster County Habitat for Humanity operates in established neighborhoods either by rehabilitating houses or building new homes. Families are chosen based upon demonstrated need and a steady source of income to repay the affordable mortgage. Families invest 300 hours of their own “sweat-equity” labor into the houses.

Habitat partner families are good neighbors and exhibit pride in ownership. Each new Habitat house contributes to the tax base of Ulster County.  A Habitat mortgage includes only the cost of materials so that families are able to pay taxes and contribute to the long-term stability of the community.

Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make shelter a matter of conscience and action. We have completed 12 Family Homes in Ulster County. Please visit Own A Home for details on requirements to qualify for home ownership.

Ground breaking for our 13th Family Home on East Chester Street in Kingston took place on Friday May 31, 2015 with construction to start in June.

Dedication of our 12th home on Henry Street was held on October 26, 2014.  View the dedication video on youtube or the photo album on Facebook.
