Everyone is invited to pay tribute to President Carter this January at the Ulster County Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
President Carter passed away December 29th, 2024 at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family. Ulster County Habitat for Humanity is joining other affiliates around the globe in honoring the countless contributions President Jimmy Carter has made to Habitat for Humanity and to Habitat homeowners for nearly four decades.
We’ve placed a door in the front of the ReStore, with an invitation for all to sign with their name and personal message about the impact President Carter has had on their lives.
This door symbolizes the many doors of opportunity that President Carter helped make possible through his life of service to others.
The door will be available for signing until January 31st.
President Carter has supported Habitat for Humanity since 1984, when he and his wife worked at a Habitat site in Americus, Georgia. Later that year, they joined Habitat volunteers in New York for the inaugural Carter Work Project.
For more than 35 years, President and Mrs. Carter have traveled across the world with Habitat, donating their time and voices to build and improve homes alongside Habitat homeowners. President and Mrs. Carter have worked alongside more than 104,000 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate or repair 4,390 homes.
