Ulster County Habitat for Humanity has begun offering temporary ramps and permanent ramps to qualifying individuals.
To qualify for a ramp:
- You must make between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income, and be able to pay the cost of materials for a permanent ramp. We offer a no-interest loan over two years to qualifying individuals.
- You must own your home, and reside here in Ulster County.
- You must have a medical need for a permanent wheelchair ramp to be built.
- Applicants must provide proof they are current on all municipal and school taxes, as well as provide proof of current homeowners insurance policy.
- Applicants must also cooperate in providing storage and working space as well as access to electricity, toilet facilities, and water.
- Applicants must pay and provide a copy of the required Building Permit fee in the applicant’s municipality.
- The premises must have appropriate space for a ramp that complies with applicable code, be in good repair, and be structurally able to accommodate a ramp.
Construction of a wheelchair ramp will be at the sole discretion of Ulster County Habitat for Humanity. A limited number of temporary ramps are available for homeowners whose situation qualifies.
Applications for new ramps are currently closed. Please contact our Homeownership Coordinator, to be notified when the application period reopens.
