Donations are the core of a successful ReStore. Our partner families, and the community benefit from reuse, repurpose and recycling efforts. Because of your donations, we are able to offer goods at affordable prices to the community.
We welcome all offers We welcome all offers of new or very gently-used items. We ask that all items be in excellent condition, 100% operable and thoroughly cleaned. Please review our donations guidelines below before you donate.
Ulster County Habitat for Humanity reserves the right to refuse unsuitable donations.
- Donation Drop Offs: Donations may be dropped off on the lower parking level Wed-Sat 11am – 4pm.
- Donation Pick ups: We may be able to pick up your items for a small fee. To schedule pick-up of oversized items, call us at (845)853-7499 ext. 106, or email your full name, address, contact phone number, and photos of the items you wish to donate to: donations@ulsterhabitat.org
- We will create an electronic tax receipt for accepted donation items.
Donation Guidelines
Through your donations, the ReStore provides new and gently used furniture, artwork, home improvement materials, appliances, and more at prices affordable to everyone.
Donations to Avoid
Please see our list below. Such items cost us money for proper disposal (as does trash left at our dock). That money is diverted from our primary mission of helping families.
Items We Accept

- Artwork
- Antiques
- Appliances 10 years old or newer, in good working order
- Cabinets & Countertops Solid wood fronts with all drawers and doors
- Doors Except shower & hollow core w/o jamb
- Flooring Unused (minimum 100 sq ft) linoleum or tile
- Furniture Item must be free of any stains, tears, fading/discoloration, pet damage/stains/odors, signs of wear, smoke odors
- Hardware New in original packages – all types (please no used goods)
- Housewares Dish sets of 4 or more, no single items, no items with chips, cracks, broken pieces. No plastic items.
- HVAC Bathroom fans and vents
- Lawn & Garden Tools, fencing, bricks and pavers
- Lighting and Electrical Light fixtures, new electrical supplies
- Lumber (minimum 100 feet in 8-10 foot lengths) no nails or screws
- Sinks & Fixtures New only
- Roofing Asphalt, wood metal, tar paper (Minimum 100 sq ft)
- Tools & Equipment In good working order with all parts
- Windows Double-pane vinyl (no wood!) undamaged, unfogged in working order

- Tube TVs
- Mattresses or Sleep Sofas
- Infant/Toddler Items Cribs, strollers, car seats, etc.
- Toys or Stuffed Animals
- Computer, Monitors, Printers and other computer equipment
- Exercise Equipment or Certain Sports Equipment Such as helmets, knee/elbow pads, downhill skis, snowboards, ski boots
- Inflatable Items Such as pools, air mattresses, etc.
- Clothing
- Broken, Torn or Soiled Items Upholstered furniture, etc.
- Ceiling Fans
- Plumbing fixtures (except new) Toilets, showers, surrounds, tubs, faucets, handrails, grab bars
- Paint
- Siding
