Ulster County Habitat for Humanity welcomed members of the Ulster County Legislature to our active build site on Doris Street in Port Ewen last week, and we could not have been more grateful for the visit.
Legislators Debra Clinton, Dominick Marino, Michael Berardi, Joe Donaldson, and Lindsey Grossman walked the site, asked questions, and saw firsthand what the work of building affordable homes looks like on the ground. For our team, having elected officials take the time to show up — not just in support, but in person — is a meaningful reminder that this work matters to the people who represent our community.
The two homes currently under construction on Doris Street are part of Ulster County Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing commitment to building safe, stable, affordable housing in the Town of Esopus. When complete, they will provide families right here in Ulster County with a place to put down roots and build a future.
We are grateful to these legislators for their time, their interest, and their advocacy. Visits like this one remind us that building homes is a community effort — and that we are not doing it alone.
